Before we ventured off to the annual Rosé Festival, Jen and I wanted to eat some Southwest food at Cactus! This restaurant is located close to the Kirkland waterfront and parallel to Downtown Kirkland’s Main Street.
By 3 pm the outdoor patio at Cactus was already full! We opted to sit inside where there was air-conditioning.
We were famished and immediately ordered their guacamole. It was a generous portion and very addictive! We had to force ourselves to leave room for our main dishes.
Cactus has featured drinks and dishes that rotate every few months. I ordered their special cocktail for May.
It was really hard to choose what to order for an early dinner. I asked the waiter what he preferred from the gluten-free menu. He suggested the Smoked Brisket Tacos. They were filled with applewood-smoked brisket, cascabel salsa, Monterey Jack cheese, red onion escabeche, and cilantro. I am glad I took his advice!
Jen ordered the Sonoran Spa Chicken, which is covered in portobello mushrooms, sauteed spinach, vegetable escabeche, cotija cheese, and sunshine mojo and lime chimichurri – yum!
If you’re looking for good food in the heart of Kirkland, we highly suggest visiting Cactus Southwest Kitchen + Bar in Kirkland.
