We recently visited Rocky Pond Winery in Woodinville’s Woodin Creek Village district for a pour of their fabulous 2019 Malbec and a glass of mulled wine. I always enjoy visiting Rocky Pond for the amazing service and ambiance, and I sometimes take for granted just how delicious their wines are! Rocky Pond Winery owns the Clos CheValle and Double D vineyards, and the fruit quality coming from these two sites is stellar.
This single varietal Malbec had a smooth and long finish with notes of chocolate and black pepper. It was one you will not want to miss!
We had just eaten a big lunch, so we didn’t have any room left in our tummies to order some of chef Doug Setniker’s memorable culinary creations. I have been here many times and a highlight from every wine tasting is without a doubt, the farm-to-table food and wine pairing options. Definitely add this Woodin Creek Village tasting room to the top of your wine destination list.
This was Kaiti’s first time visiting this particular tasting room in Woodin Creek. She quickly did the same thing that I am always compelled to do, sat down on the swanky and lusciously comfortable leather sofa. I mean, just look at this thing! It’s giving, ” carefree sipping in sophisticated NYC cigar bar”? It’s fabulous.
Have you ever been in a tasting room and had the opportunity to enjoy a warm and spicy glass of mulled wine? It is one of the highlights of winter wine tasting in Woodinville for us, and Rocky Pond is our go-to destination for it. There is just something about the mix of mulled spices and warmed wine that is so delicious and comforting.
I am looking forward to visiting the winery’s tasting room in Lake Chelan this Spring and hope to meet winemaker, Elizabeth Keyser. Her career path is impressive, to say the least. With a background of winemaking positions in California, Oregon, Australia, and the Finger Lakes region of New York, she brings well-rounded talent to our PNW region.
You can find the Rocky Pond tasting room in the heart of Woodinville’s Woodin Creek Village, with ample parking options that are walkable. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 1-7.
Let us know when you visit!
~Cheers,
Jen
