A Bright New Look for Airfield Estates in Woodinville

During the spring of 2022, Carrie and I walked past Airfield Estates often. They were in the middle of a remodel, so we would try to sneak a peek inside! We never had the chance to stop by when it was finished since summertime was extremely busy! Finally, I had the opportunity to pop in and try Airfield’s wines for the first time!

You can see what Airfield Estates used to look like in one of our previous blog posts! I love seeing the before and after photos.

The space is bright but maintains its rustic charm. I enjoy the shiplap on the wall featuring vintage photos of the Airport Ranch.

I started with a 2021 Sauvignon Blanc that was to die for. For me, there was an enjoyable marriage of citrus notes and floral undertones. It was a delight! I immediately knew I was going to be taking this one home!

Next up was the 2021 Sangiovese Rose. My host warned me that this is a porch pounder and she was not wrong. The acidity of the berry flavors cut any lingering sweetness! There was also a layer of melon which transported me to summertime. Inevitably, I had to take this one home with me, too.

Then we moved into red wines. I love how distinct each flavor was!

First was the 2020 Spitfire which is a blend of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. In contrast to the sweet berry flavors of the rose, this one was smoky and spicy! It was extremely delicious.

Then, I had the 2019 Reserve Merlot. This was very fruity and super smooth. It definitely rates as one of my favorite Merlots I’ve had in Woodinville.

Last on the list is a part of their Founder’s Series, the 2019 Michael L. Miller. This one has 69% Syrah, 22% Grenache, and 9% Mourvèdre. It is a masterpiece and exceptional!

I was surprised by my host when she arrived at my table with their newest release the 2020 Cabernet Franc! It is also a limited edition exclusive to club-only members. I felt very lucky to be able to take this one home with me as well.

Come check out the new space and enjoy a delicious tasting at Airfield Estates!
