Discovering the Long Cellars Merlot That I Took Home but Refused to Share!

I was super excited to finally go meet Jason Long from Long Cellars, located in Woodinville’s Warehouse District. I knew I would enjoy myself when I read that this boutique winery focused on Bordeaux varietals from Red Mountain and Yakima Valley AVAs.

This label is fun, isn’t it? That is exactly what you will get when you meet winemaker and owner Jason Long.  Easy going and friendly, Jason made our wine tasting super enjoyable with easy conversation and a little history behind his wines. This Cabernet Franc was the first red wine that Jason produced as a solo winemaker, back in 2010. Since he pressed it on Halloween night, Jason originally named this Cab Frankenstein, later shortening the name to Cab Frank.

We started things off with this Semillon, which I think would pair with so many things: fish, meats and spicy roasted vegetables.

I took home a bottle of this 2018 Merlot, and it was one of those wines that when I opened it, I didn’t share it. Seriously. I drank it all myself and I would do it again! There is just something that I find hard to resist about Red Mountain merlots. Get your hands on some and let us know what you think.  We love to hear from our readers!

Long Cellars has a second Cab Franc in their current wine list of releases. I loved seeing two current Cabernet Franc releases available at this winery. I have admitted this in pervious posts, but I was missing out on the delight of a great Cab Franc until I began to wine taste my way through Washington State. Now it is one of my favorite varietals. This one is sourced from Boushey Vineyard and was at one point a wine-club only offering. For more on the Long Cellars wine club, click here.

Long Cellars is located in the Warehouse District, at 19510 building144th Ave NE, suite A6 (entrance is n the North side of the building). They are located next to Triplehorn Brewing Co for all of you beer lovers out there!

All tastings are outdoors right now due to Washington State safety regulations. Seating is limited, so we suggest calling the tasting room at (425) 698-5198 and they will be thrilled to help you out. You can also email about reservations of wine purchases at info@longcellars.com.
