Visiting Isenhower Cellars New Tasting Room in Woodinville’s Hollywood District

Carrie and I recently made a trip to Walla Walla and Isenhower Cellars was one of the wineries that we made an appointment to visit. Sadly, we had to cut our trip short and were not able to make it. The smoke from the wildfires had settled in over Walla Walla and it was too much for us to go wine tasting outdoors.  Although we were both disappointed that we didn’t get to see all of the wineries that we had planned to, on the bright side of things it means we need to go back again very soon!

Instead of visiting the Isenhower Cellars family in Walla Walla, we regrouped back in Woodinville and set up a wine tasting appointment (visit the link on their website, here).

It was great to see John in the tasting room, and he was pouring this delicious lineup. I really enjoyed the 2019 Vin Gris, Pinot Gris.  It has gorgeous peach, pink hue with flavors of green apple and pears.

I loved how Isenhower has converted their wine tasting set up using this barrel stave and small beakers. This reduces handling and allows the staff to avoid making multiples passes to tables during this time of heightened health concerns.

The upstairs loft area has been converted to a wine club lounge, which would be make for the perfect cozy wine tasting experience! For more on Isenhower’s FOI (Friends of Isenhower) wine club, click here.

Here is a shot of the view from the wine club lounge.  A fun atmosphere for a wine tasting!

John brought us a bonus pour of this fabulous Petit Verdot port and of course I had to bring a bottle home. Cabernet Sauvignon was distilled to make the brandy for this port and the Petit Verdot grapes were sourced from Dionysus Vineyard.

Carrie and I can’t wait to get back to Walla Walla for a proper visit.  Typically, we visit 4 wineries each day when we are there but on our last trip we only had the opportunity for two! Of course, we will be going back as soon as we can to see the Walla Walla tasting room. In the interim, I know we will be back again to the Hollywood District and this gorgeous new tasting room.
