Maryhill Winery had all of Woodinville buzzing with its grand opening a few weeks back. Sadly, I had a terrible cough/cold the night of their industry preview night and had to skip it. Carrie attended and had a fabulous time! (read her post, here) The following week, she and I ran over to the bustling new tasting room together to stock up for the holidays!
First impressions? Craig and Vicki Leuthold have opened their third satellite tasting room in beautiful and historic fashion. They have taken the iconic and beloved Hollywood Schoolhouse to a new level. Mary Hill guests will experience the grand ballroom, fireplaces (love!) and a full kitchen. Not to mention the upper floor balconies offered to wine club members! (whoot!)
I had no idea how many varietals Maryhill makes. Of course, Carrie and I did not leave without making a serious credit card dent with our purchases. Here I am holding a bottle of their port, which I wanted to purchase after enjoying the cinnamon and blackberry notes on the palate during my tasting. I wish you could see more of the stunning antique bar that was left intact during the remodel and shown here behind me.
Local talented musician Ian Skavdahl was our tasting room host this afternoon and was so knowledgable and friendly that Carrie and I thought he was the tasting room manager.
Can we take a moment to admire these unique and beautiful tasting counters made from wine barrel staves? We were told that owner Craig custom-designed these for the Woodinville location. They are gorgeous and functional, offering plenty of room at the counter for wine tasting and purchases.
This display was something that I really enjoyed seeing. Making a global impact is dear to my family’s heart, and I always love to see local businesses and wineries who support such important work. Maryhill is partnered with Heifer International to help families around the world fight hunger and poverty.
The day that Carrie and I stopped in, we did not have time for a full tasting. I returned for another visit just after Thanksgiving with my fiance James to enjoy our new premium wine club membership. I was sad when we first arrived because there was a private event going on that night in the premium club room, but then we scored a table in front of the downstairs fireplace and had a great time.
My future brother and sister-in-law joined us for an amazing night of laughs, good food and of course, wonderful Woodinville wine. I was very impressed with the level of customer service that we received on a packed Saturday night.
I will be going back to experience the premium wine club room again this coming weekend, if not sooner. On Tuesdays, Maryhill Winery offers wine club members special discounts and one of my resolutions this year is to take advantage of the perks of my wine club memberships and enjoy Woodinville wine tasting far more often.
Maryhill Woodinville is grand and impressive and staffed with friendly people, and 38 different varietals of wine to suit every wine lover’s preference.
The tasting room address at the Hollywood Schoolhouse is 14810 NE 145th St, Woodinville, WA 98072. There is a parking lot, but be prepared on a busy weekend for a little walking, as this wine tasting hub gets crowded fast.
The tasting room hours are: M-Th 11:00am to 7:00 pm, F-Sat 11:00 am to 9:00 pm and Sundays from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
