One of the highlights from our trip to Walla Walla was the afternoon that Carrie and I spent at the Armstrong Family Winery with Jennifer Armstrong. I must give extra kudos to this amazing woman because she graciously gave us her time and a full tour of their estate, all while packing for a family vacation that began the very next day. We were impressed and grateful!

Jen greeted us with a smile and we started things off with a glass of their newest release, Bogey’s blend.

Bogey’s Blend is a special blend named after the family’s adorable dog. Bogie hung around the winery while we were there sipping on the 55% Syrah/45% cabernet sauvignon blend. I loved the smooth finish of this wine!

Jen gave us a full tour of the property, and I learned so much about the passion that the Armstrong family pours into their winemaking. They source their grapes from their own Valley Grove estate vineyard in Walla Walla, as well as from Copeland, Dineen, Elephant Mountain, Discovery, Lawrence and Seven Hills Vineyards.

Their vines are hand pruned and painstakingly tended. Armstrong wines are inspired by owner/winemaker Tim Armstrong and owner/GM Jen Armstong’s love for Bordeaux wines.

The Armstrong family plans to develop their estate in the coming seasons to allow for fun winemaker dinners and events. This field will be transformed into a large event space that sits on the property just below the main house and guest house.

Here is Jennifer posing in the vineyard. I have tasted, enjoyed and purchased wines several times in the past from the Woodinville tasting room, but it was her generous approach to sharing the history of her family’s winery that prompted me to join the wine club.

There were many exciting surprises at the Armstrong Estate, including this gorgeous red barn.

The Armstong guest house was named one of the top ten Washington vacation home rentals by Tasting Room Magazine. We will have an additional post on this with more photos for you to see.

Carrie and I had an amazing time visiting Walla Walla this summer, and this afternoon at the Armstrong Family Winery was definitely a highlight.  Later that day we returned to the downtown Walla Walla tasting room for live music and wine tastings with our friend Carole.  The atmosphere at all three Armstrong locations is always friendly and based on providing you an experience to enjoy!
