We were eager to explore one of Woodinville’s two newest tasting rooms, Milbrandt Vineyards. It’s remarkable how much they transformed the former “Mazatlan” Mexican restaurant into two gorgeous tasting rooms and a lovely restaurant.

We were stunned by the gorgeous, open and airy decor in this tasting room. I especially appreciated the Moroccan-style bazaar lantern shaped light fixtures.

One wall features a giant mural of the Wahluke Slope AVA.

We stopped to admire the wall of Milbrandt Vineyards wines, particularly the Rosé! We continued snooping around the tasting room and exploring, while plotting to buy bottles of their Rosé.

A giant, impressive framed photograph of the vineyards hangs behind the tasting bar counter.

A big table is available for your group, but please call ahead if you have six or more people planning to join you for a tasting. I wonder if this gets pushed aside for the Tuesday morning yoga classes held here.

We were greeted by the knowledgeable, energetic tasting room associate, Lindsey. She was absolutely delightful to learn from!

Our first tasting pour was the 2015 Riesling from Evergreen Vineyards – I found it a bit sweet, but still liked it immensely.

Our second tasting was the 2012 Grenache, which was really fruity and quite good. I love anything that tastes of cherries. I’m amassing a bit of a Grenache collection, and bought a bottle here to bring home.

I made myself at home at a table to enjoy my tasting, catch up on my notes, and take in the ambience. I didn’t want to ignore my friend Joanna for too long though, so hurried to finish my notes on the tasting.

Next was the 2014 Syrah for me, and the Chardonnay for my friend Joanna who had come along to the tasting with us.

My final tasting was the 2015 The Estates Cabernet, made with 77% Cabernet, 16% Malbec, and 7% Petit Verdot. This was my favorite of the day, and I purchased a bottle for home. I rarely seem to buy Cabernets anymore, but had to drink this one again!

If you ever go on an Eastern Washington wine exploration vacation, be sure to stop into the Milbrandt Vineyards tasting room in Prosser, at the Vintner’s Village.

The Woodinville tasting room is located at 14450 Redmond-Woodinville Rd NE, Woodinville, WA 98072.
