I recently saw a magazine ad for Riedel’s Venetian inspired varietal-specific “Fatto a Mano” wine glasses and was instantly captivated by the gorgeous colorful stems. wine Besides looking pretty on my dinner party tables, they’d make it easier for party guests to remember which glass is theirs if they happened to set it down.

“Fatto a Mano” means “handmade” or “handcrafted” in Italian.
The bowls of the wine glasses are machine blown, but the stems are hand made, bringing together old world traditions and modern technology.
There are a few styles with black-and-white stems, and some sets of all-black stemmed glasses as well.
These wine glasses are made in a wide selection for specific wine varietals, to enhance the taste of your wine. There are glasses for oaked Chardonnay, Riesling/Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Champagne, Cabernet, Syrah, Cabernet/Merlot, Burgundy Grand Cru and Bordeaux Grand Cru. Sadly, there’s not a Rosé specific glass! I might just use a pink-stemmed Riesling glass for my Rosé forays then.
I can’t imagine forking over the hundreds of dollars for these (well, in my dreams) but it might be a nice present for a really, really big occasion. Perhaps for a wedding anniversary in the double digits, a retirement gift, or a stressful Xth-decade birthday celebration? Or if you’ve been really, reallly bad and need to make amends for something!
Fatto a Mano wine glasses are available on Amazon, via eBay, and on the Riedel website.
