Recently, my friend Valerie and I were able to agree on a day to go to lunch and wine tasting in Woodinville. It’s nice to be able to fit a Ladies Lunch into the middle of a workweek! Not to mention a wine-soaked afternoon, grin.
Neither one of us had been to Barking Frog in quite a while, so we decided to start our day of fun with a nice lunch there.
We’d arrived a bit early so had the restaurant mostly to ourselves – that felt very chic! As always, the service was fantastic and our server friendly and on top of her game.
We weren’t going to pass up on the chance to order their bread basket. The bread was heavenly as expected, and I was surprised how delicious their “house compound butter” was. I wonder what kind of fancy salts they add to it!
I ordered the Beet & Baby Kale salad, and had a hard time getting a good photograph of it for you. It doesn’t help that it appears to be a difficult salad to plate attractively. Still, the salad tasted very nice. I had hoped for more beets and less frisee, however.
Valerie showed off what a healthy eater she is (way to keep a New Year’s resolution!) by ordering their Caesar salad.
I was excited to see a vegetarian quinoa bowl option on the menu. It included brown rice, kale, avocado, corn, black beans, sour cream, and housemade roasted tomato salsa. So good – I would definitely order this again!
Why wouldn’t we order dessert? We were already playing hooky and planning to do some day drinking, and we’d already consumed the bread basket.
Barking Frog’s artsy, delicious “Key lime pie” features a Speculoos cookie crust, coconut cucumber sorbet and ginger kaffir lime “snow” with some blackberry margarita coulis to cut the tartness. We split it, marveling at the cute little meringues and the artistic white chocolate decoration on top.
The good news is Barking Frog is also open for breakfast, brunch, and dinner! You have lots of opportunities to enjoy a meal here!
