We happened to stop by William Church Winery’s tasting room here in Woodinville on a day the winemaker was in town!

Noah was visiting from the vineyards in Eastern Washington. (You can read more about him in his profile at Washington Tasting Room).

William Church wines had just taken home several awards from the Bellingham NW Wine Festival.

This tasting room offers 6 tastings for $10 on Thursdays and $5 tastings on Fridays!

Here are tasting notes on their current releases, including their 2013 Sur la Mer, their 2014 Syrah, a 2015 Viognier, their 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, a 2013 Malbec, and a 2014 Cabernet Franc.

We began the tasting with their viognier, which I promptly bought a bottle or two for serving at my outdoor parties this summer.

Next we then moved on to tasting the Cabernet Sauvignon. I was especially excited to taste their Cabernet Franc, too.

We learned about the wine regions of Washington State, while sipping on our delicious tasting wines.

I love that this tasting room offers snacks – I wish more of them did! If we hadn’t just eaten lunch, I would have been tempted by the olives and cheese plate.

We admired the stained glass William Church logo on the bottles. The name “William Church” comes from owners Rod and Leslie’s fathers’ names. What a touching tribute! The label is a “representation of a rose window made famous in 13th century French Gothic cathedrals.” A nice nod to the French winemaking tradition.

Here’s a little altar to the different soils from the various vineyards used to grow wine grapes for William Church Winery.

We loved the ambience and relaxing atmosphere in the Hollywood District tasting room. William Church also operates a presence in the Warehouse District of Woodinville too.

We wholeheartedly wished we had time to linger over wine on the beautiful outdoor patio, but alas, we had to get back to work!

William Church Winery is next to Purple Cafe Woodinville.

A peek at their gift shop corner.

William Church Winery’s Woodinville tasting room is located at 14455 Woodinville-Redmond Road, Woodinville, WA 98072.

Their current hours (Summer 2017) are: Sunday-Wednesday 12-6 pm; Thursday 12-7; Friday & Saturday 12-8:30 pm. (Open much later than most tasting rooms! Yay!)
