Carrie, Joanna and myself capped our afternoon wine tasting off at Gaurdian Cellars tasting room and the French Oak aged wine was delicious! Located in Apple Farm Village, Guardian is owned by husband-and-wife-team, Jerry Riener and Jennifer Sullivan. Their professional backgrounds are melded creatively into Guardian wines and found throughout the tasting room. Names such as, Newsprint, The Alibi, The Informant give a nod to Jerry’s full time job as a police officer and Jennefer’s job as a crime reporter for the Seattle Times.
Guests of Guardian can enjoy glasses of wine on this outdoor patio overlooking the tourist district. We sat inside at the wine bar for our first visit, but plan to try the relaxing outdoor vantage point the next time!
The 2014 Angel, Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and refreshing! This wine comes from Klipsun Vineyard on Red Mountain, and is fermented for six weeks in 100% French Oak Barrels. I tasted delicious notes of grapefruit.
The decor inside the tasting room is very chic and unique. I might be making this up, but I noticed that even the blue walls and the black and white accents align with the owners’ professional heritage.
Bottles of Guardian wine line the shelves behind the tasting bar counter. Carrie and I were so impressed with the flavors of these wines, that we each purchased several bottles to take home. The winemakers committment to an extra-long aging process was evident as we sipped.
Our beautiful friend Joanna sits near the front window, enjoying a glass of the 2012 Gun Metal. I also enjoyed this blend of Cabernet and Merlot (with a hint of Cabernet Franc) and my taste buds picked up notes of Black Cherry and Sage. Delicious!
