We had a lot to talk about and catch up on, and neither of us wanted to mess around in our kitchens making (and cleaning up after) sandwiches. So we headed out to The Commons on a cheerfully cloudy day.
We wistfully admired these Adirondack chairs, but we shall have to relax in them on a sunnier, warmer day ahead!
I tried not to think about what sort of delights their bakery case might hold – best not to know about all the tempting possibilities!
Love the farmhouse-meets-urban-cottage decor in here!
I personally like to have dessert BEFORE lunch, so naturally, I ordered the Bourbon Salted Caramel milkshake. Highly recommended!
Followed by iced tea for hydration!
Of course on a rainy day, we felt compelled to order comfort food – grilled cheese sandwich with caramelized onions, and notes of basil in the freshly homemade tomato soup. Jen ordered the chickpea salad and I went for the mixed greens.
I often walk to The Commons (by often I mean, only in Spring and Fall, and infrequently) on the Tolt Pipeline Trail. I arrive sweaty and collapse onto a barstool for a refreshing glass of water, and let’s admit it, a Bramble Collins cocktail.
It was nice today to arrive by car, clean and not tired and footsore!
